Community Impact Director

Intercultural Competency Facilitator
Develop and facilitate yearly new employee orientation on foundational equity and intercultural concepts; Develop and co-facilitate annual 32-hour Intercultural Competency & Equity development workshops; Provide ongoing support to departments and divisions on implementing equity conversations and training.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Works on the Equitable Fine and Fee Reform Team to collaborate to identify city policies, procedures, and barriers that negatively impact community members; Represent the City of Dubuque on the Volunteer Iowa DEI Committee to advise on AmeriCorps and Service-related policy and direction; advocate for partnership and collective impact advancement through Dubuque's Every Child | Reads.
Critical Thinking and Complex Problem Solving
Analyze county, city, and program data to successfully allocate AmeriCorps resources to address critical needs; Evaluate program outcomes to make strategic decisions for program implementation, continued development, and expansion.
Emotional Intelligence Practitioner
Attended 40 hours of Emotional Intelligence Training; Engage and support employees in understanding their Emotional Intelligence using the 6 Second models; Integrate EQ training into AmeriCorps Member orientations; Develop engaging EQ content for the Employee Wellness Challenge.
Grant Writing and Administration
Secured funding of 4 Federal Competitive AmeriCorps Grants, 5 State Formula AmeriCorps Grants, and 1 State Volunteer Generation Fund Grant; Oversee management of AmeriCorps Grant funding, including documentation of all match sources, expenditures and appropriate records retention for City and grant requirements.
Administration and Management
Audit program contracts, agreements and policies annually to ensure compliance with state and federal guidance, grant requirements and appropriate laws; Relocated and centralized the AmeriCorps Office to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
High Performing Government Facilitator
Offer consultations and outside perspectives to city departments to identify areas of strategic problem solving; Identify areas for cross-departmental collaboration to improve effectiveness; Provide annual training to new City Employees on the concept of HPG.
Human Resources, Education and Training
Recruit, onboard, train, and exit over 70 AmeriCorps Members (18 FTE) annually; Provide individualized coaching and support to Members, focusing on personal & professional development; Develop and implement training around Equity, Trauma-Informed Care, and Emotional Intelligence.
Mediation and Conflict Resolution
Act as an advocate and mediator between Members and Supervisors to ensure positive conflict resolution and long-term outcomes are maintained; spearhead new grant partnerships with community partners to advance City Council goals and priorities by Partnering for a Better Dubuque.
